Hinckley is located in east central Minnesota and is the halfway point between the Twin Cities and Duluth at the intersection of Highway 48 and Interstate 35. Hinckley and the surrounding areas offer many things for everyone to enjoy.

Corn & Clover Carnival July 18 & 19, 2025 Recap
The Corn & Clover Carnival brought two full days of fun to Lawler Avenue on July 18th and 19th! From Friday’s tasty food stands, games, and the colorful sidewalk chalk contest, to Saturday’s lively parade, science exhibits, magic shows, and street dance — the weekend was packed with excitement.

Summary of work
Replace the following bridges: northbound and southbound I-35 bridges over the Grindstone River located 0.3 miles north of the junction of MN 48, and northbound and southbound I-35 bridges over the BNSF railroad located 1.2 miles north of the junction of MN 48. Repair bridge over I-35 at MN 48. Unbonded concrete overlay on I-35 from 1.0 mile south of MN 48 to 2.2 miles north of MN 48.
Bridge work and highway resurfacing will occur in 2025.

Traffic impacts
In 2024 and 2025, traffic will be single-lane head-to-head in the project area with ramp detours.
Motorists should expect delays, especially during peak weekend travel times.
Traffic has returned to the normal two lane each direction pattern, and significant traffic impacts are not expected until May 2025.
Southbound construction including the rail bridge, southbound Grindstone River bridge and southbound Highway 48 on and off ramps will be completed in 2025. In the spring, lanes will be restricted to single lane, head-to-head traffic again.
